Hi everyone!

This is Bianca, coming to you live from the R/V Point Sur!

Yesterday, our sampling crew had an early morning start for our first trawl of the cruise! We all met up around 2:00 AM, getting ready for when the net hit the surface. Our team brings together a wide diversity of expertise, from taxonomists to acoustic specialists, as well as Master’s and Ph.D. students.

Happy 1^st day of the DSB2 Cruise aboard the RV Pt. Sur! I’m Jane Carrick, a postdoctoral fellow from the University of Rhode Island. Along with expert Dr. Andy Davies, I’m on the ship to deploy a benthic lander to the deep seafloor where it will record data for the next 11 days.

Hello, everyone-  Heather J here and excited to share that we are heading out on our next DEEPEND cruise and leave at midnight!  Everyone is scurrying around as the science team and crew load gear, equipment, and food onboard in preparation to leave the dock later tonight.
