Stormie Collins
I came to Florida in 2016 to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Biology. I joined Dr. Heather Bracken-Grissom's CRUSTOMICS Lab in the spring of 2019, where I began using morphological and genetic techniques to study cryptic speciation in deep-sea shrimp. I am now a PhD student in the CRUSTOMICS Lab. My research interests are centered around the use of bioluminescence within deep-sea shrimp and krill, particularly how they may be using light organs to communicate and locate mates. My contributions to the DEEPEND|RESTORE project will be to study bioluminescence in different groups to better understand their ecology and evolution. I am incredibly interested in the mysteries of light in the deep-sea.
