Andrea Bernard, PhD

Andrea Bernard is a Research Scientist at Nova Southeastern University and a member of the Guy Harvey Research Institute and Save Our Seas Shark Foundation Research Center and the DEEPEND|RESTORE Consortium.  She earned a BS (Marine and Freshwater Biology) and a MS (Integrative Biology) from the University of Guelph, and completed her PhD in 2013 (Marine Biology) at Nova Southeastern University. Her work focuses on using genetic and genomic tools (DNA sequencing, microsatellites, and single nucleotide polymorphisms) to study the genetic connectivity, demography, biodiversity and evolutionary history of elasmobranchs, billfishes, deep sea fishes and coral reef associated taxa.
